Discover the remarkable journey that brought SIA to where it stands today as a beacon of quality education and innovation.
Savannah International Academy was born from a simple but powerful realisation. After eighteen years studying, working and living in the UK, Mrs Sardia Mould returned to her secondary school alma mater in Tamale, Ghana, and was struck by how far the standard of education had fallen from the excellence she once experienced there.
Driven by a deep commitment to nurturing young minds and a belief in the power of critical thinking, Mrs Mould set out to change that story. Her vision was clear: to build an institution that not only restored the quality of education she remembered, but went further, crafting a curriculum designed to bridge the educational gap between Northern and Southern Ghana, and to prepare young people to become dynamic contributors to their communities, their country, and the world.
That vision took shape with the support of a dedicated circle of mentors and collaborators, including Dr. Sulley Gariba (Policy Analyst and Evaluation Expert, of blessed memory), Dr. William J.N.L. Mould (Investment Banker and Businessman), Dr. Titi Ofei (former Principal of SOS-Hermann Gmeiner International College, and currently Principal of International Community School), Mr. Isaac Sam, Mr. Senyo Gyandu (CEO, CDC Consult), Mr. Joel Nettey (CEO, Ninani Group), and many others who believed in the mission.
The idea was first conceived, and the company was registered in 2011. Seven years later, in September 2018, that vision became a reality: Savannah International Academy opened its doors in a small rental property in Tamale, with just 8 students and 3 teachers.
Today, that modest beginning stands as the foundation of a growing academic community, a dream realised and still unfolding, of providing an academically nurturing and socially enriching environment where young minds are shaped into well-rounded members of society.
The SIA project was conceived and the company officially registered, laying the legal and conceptual groundwork for what would become a transformative institution.
SIA opened its doors to students in a small rental property in Tamale with just 8 students and 3 teachers. A dream realised of providing an academically nurturing and socially enriching environment for young minds.
Enrolment grew rapidly as word spread about the quality of SIA's education. New teachers were recruited and academic programmes expanded across more year groups.
SIA was accredited by Cambridge Assessment International Education (CAIE), cementing its status as a world-class institution offering internationally recognised qualifications.
The SIA Trust was established to provide scholarships to deserving students, ensuring that financial barriers do not prevent talented young Ghanaians from accessing quality education.
Today, SIA is home to over 200 students from 20+ nationalities, with a dedicated team of 30+ educators, offering a holistic education from Preschool through Secondary school.
With the guidance, mentorship and support of other passionate individuals, SIA came to life:
