Chief Alhassan Andani

Naa (Dr.) Alhassan Andani was born in Banvim, a village in the Norther Region of Ghana. After elementary school, he had his second cycle education at Ghana Secondary School (O’levels from 1973 to 1978) and Tamale Secondary School (A’Levels in 1979/1980).

In 1980, he gained admission into the University of Ghana to Study Agriculture at the undergraduate level. After graduating, he joined the then Social Security Bank (SSB) in 1984 where he rose through the ranks to become the Regional Manager of the Development Finance Division of the Bank in charge of the then Upper Region of Ghana.

In 1990, he gained admission into the Finafrica Institute in Milan, Italy where he was awarded a master’s degree in Banking and Finance. Mr. Andani has had numerous Executive Level education, prominent among is the Oxford Strategic Leadership Programme at SAID Oxford Business School and holds an International Management Certificate from INSEAD, Fontainebleau, France.

After a successful 8-year career, with SSB, Mr. Andani joined Standard Chartered Bank Ghana in 1993 and held Senior Management Positions in the Corporate Banking Division of Standard Bank in the Northern Cluster, based in Kumasi, and later as Regional Manager, Domestic Corporate for the Accra-Tema Business Cluster. He led the Bank’s effort to create a Public Sector Portfolio which within a short space of three years became the largest Corporate Banking Portfolio of the bank, and in the process secured and led Standard Chartered Bank’s first ever mandate to syndicate the Receivables Backed Pre-Export Facility for Ghana Cocoa Board in 1999. By the time he was leaving the bank in 1999, he had helped make Standard Chartered Bank the most profitable bank in the country.

In April 2000, Barclays Bank Ghana made a swoop for him, and he joined the bank as the Executive Director, Corporate Banking, and was later elevated contemporaneously to the position of Deputy Managing Director of the Bank. Under his leadership, the Corporate Banking Division of Barclays Bank grew significantly, building a balanced portfolio of parastatal, multinational, domestic corporate, and SME portfolios that made Barclays Bank the leading Bank in Ghana by 2005.

He secured and led three consecutive mandates for Barclays Bank to arrange the Internationally famous Receivable Backed Pre-Export Facility for the Ghana Cocoa Board. At this point, he had already created indelible footprints in the banking industry in Ghana, but the best was yet to come.

Standard Bank Group appointed him as the Managing Director of Stanbic Bank Ghana in 2006.  Over the next 14 years, Mr. Alhassan Andani, through impeccable leadership, and good corporate governance, transformed Stanbic Bank Ghana into the top-tier Bank we see today. By the time he was retiring as the Chief Executive Officer in the year 2020, he had increased the number of branches from the 3 there were when he took over in 2006 to thirty-four branches with top notch innovative systems, making Stanbic Bank one of the most technologically advanced banks in Ghana, able to rival any other bank in Africa.

His passion for developing enterprises led him to establish LVSafrica Limited in March 2021 with aim of helping to build profitable and sustainable African Enterprises.

Having served on Boards and Committees that span the entire socio-economic gamut of the country, including Gold Fields, CSIR, Teacher’s Fund, Ministry of Finance, etc, it is safe to say that he has vast experience and exposure to a myriad of sectors including banking, agriculture, governance, and human capital development among others.

Naa Alhassan Andani, is above all dedicated to service, and is currently serving the people of the Dagbong Traditional Area as the Paramount Chief of  Pishigu. An office he is determined to use as a medium for development and self-actualization for the people of Pishigu and Dagbong.

In his spare time, he loves to read, meditate, and strategise.
