Purpose of the Job
To provide IT support to staff and students at Savannah International Academy (SIA), delivering services in line with the school’s needs and policies. Liaise with the relevant Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and Middle Leadership Team (MLT) to ensure that all IT-specific school requirements are met. Train staff, students, and parents on relevant IT/ICT/AI skills and software used across the school, including Microsoft Office 365, Assistive technology, accessibility functions, and IT-related troubleshooting
IT Technician Qualifications
- Educational Background:
- Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Certifications:
- Professional certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, or equivalent
Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of proven experience as an IT Technician or in a similar role.
- Experience with network-based systems such as access control, CCTV, wireless AP, internet filtering, and antivirus protection.
- Familiarity with assistive technology and accessibility functions.
- Technical Skills:
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 and cloud-based platforms.
- Proficient in troubleshooting and resolving hardware and software issues.
- Excellent knowledge of cybersecurity practices and experience implementing them.
- Familiarity with AI productivity tools.
- Ability to manage and maintain IT equipment and software library.
- Soft Skills:
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Effective communication skills to train staff and parents.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Commitment to maintaining high standards of health, safety, and security.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide a wide range of technical support across the school.
- Undertake day-to-day maintenance (including changing printer cartridges, projector bulbs, remotes, etc.) and repair of ICT equipment, and participate in a preventative maintenance programme.
- Support other network-based systems such as access control, CCTV, wireless AP, internet filtering, antivirus protection, data backups, etc.
- Perform software installation, pre-installation testing, and maintenance of the software library—recording and maintaining software utilised and licensing requirements.
- Support the setting up of equipment for both curricular and extra-curricular activities such as lessons, assemblies, training sessions, and after-school clubs.
- Maintain a daily work log, recording details of tasks undertaken, and regularly report to the IT line manager.
- Assist with the installation, configuration, and upgrading of all school ICT equipment and resources.
- Ensure that ICT systems, procedures, and assets are documented, and that the movement of assets is controlled and centralized; keep the helpdesk inventory up to date.
- Ensure the delivery and maintenance of the standard desktop image, providing a timely reimaging process.
- Support ICT equipment disposal, ensuring that this is carried out in accordance with the school and statutory guidelines.
- Ensure that incidents are logged to support ongoing maintenance issues.
- Distribute resources and provide informal support to staff in the use of hardware and software, including online cloud-based platforms such as Microsoft Office 365.
- Maintain satisfactory standards of health, safety, and security at all times when working with staff, students, and equipment.
- Carry out administrative duties aligned to the work of the department.
- Support the school in the delivery of an efficient Microsoft Office 365, School Information Management System, and other systems.
