It was a new experience joining the school in its early stages. The teachers were enthusiastic, and the curriculum was easy to get used to, there was of course more rigour and intensity when it came to learning but it was taught and practices in a way that was easy and fun to ingest. There were a lot of extracurricular activities that kept me excited and curious. My class started as a small group of about 4 and later expanded.

Despite the low number of classmates it was still fun and interesting. The various teachers and subjects kept the mood alive and energetic. The curriculum and subjects were new to me, but they were great, they expanded on various genres of subjects like science giving us physics, biology, and chemistry at an early stage allowing my knowledge to become more concrete and van. We had regular field trips to various places that really broadened my scope on different industries.

Later during my time at SIA we moved to the new campus, which was open and big, and though it was a newly built establishment and still in the phase of construction it already featured a multipurpose court for games like tennis, basketball and football. It was really fun to have been there for the first few years and I’m glad to have been a part of SIA!

Savannah International Academy has been an inextricable part of my life and has laid the foundation for what is to come. It is more than just a school to me, it is a family. A family of hardworking people pushing each other to exceed expectations and challenge standards. Being such a close knit group of people means we held each other accountable to success; not by malignant comparison but through competitive cooperation.

We truly shared our lives with each other: from triumphing at the end of wearisome calender years to scrambling to get projects together before their deadlines. We did not merely study alongside each other, but invested into each other; cultivating healthy relationships with one another and our work. A set of principles echoed as much by our teachers as by the handful of students.

The atmosphere of care, compassion and eagerness is one I’ve strived to reinvigorate anywhere I’ve been ever since. It is to note that just like conventional families, our little one was not perfect — However, we learned and grew from our mistakes, helping one another back to our feet and raising our heads once more to blaze the trail ahead. SIA has brandished strong virtues of altruistic love into our hearts. In part because as students we watched so many selfless individuals pour themselves into us, in the hopes of moulding us into respectable and influential members of society.

I will always be indebted to SIA for stoking the fire under our wings, allowing us to soar to inconceivable heights. Things have and will undoubtedly change, as SIA will only grow in scale; but it fills me with great pride to be able to claim to have been one of the very first. A pioneer that will always sway his school’s colours high and proud.
